Tournament Of The Ex Staff
Sup Toribashkins,
If you’re an ex: Smod, Admin, Ninja or Dev, you should be signing up for SlipAnc’s Ex-Staff Tournament. The basis is that all of the old staff members from Toribash’s history will come together to drink ToriBeer, exchange tales of old and participate in an epic Tournament. The Tournament will be held in the “old way,” the way that was used before the invention of the knockout command and the hope is that at least 20 ex staff will show from the 83 invited. The list of invited and attending can be seen in the event thread. I believe that this thread also holds the record for the largest gathering of ex staff. I should stick a glass panel on it and charge you 1k each to look and point.
The following is an interview with SlipAnc
[17:42] Solax Where did you get the idea for this event from?
[17:43] SlipAnc I was playing with siku and he came up with it.
[17:43] Solax How many are invited and how many are expected to attend?
[17:44] SlipAnc Well, I have invited 83 members, the list is in my thread.
[17:45] SlipAnc From those 83, I can just hope at least 20 will come.
[17:45] SlipAnc Unfortunately ex staff doesnt really hang around anymore, especially the old kind from my time.
[17:48] Solax Will this be a normal tournament or will there be variations or twists?
[17:48] SlipAnc I’m planning on hosting about 3-4 tournaments, actually.
[17:49] SlipAnc They will be simmilar to the ones that were helf in my time when knockout wasnt not yet awailable.
[17:50] SlipAnc It’s basically a knockout simulation until the semi-last round, then the semifinals are held between 3 people, they have to win at least 2 games to get in the finals. Then after one guy is the third, the two remaining will duel for 3 wins.
[17:51] SlipAnc Some may remember this, I know that I really enjoyed these tourney because they were a lot more flexible than the knockout ones.
[17:51] SlipAnc They are more fair, too, in my perspective.
[17:52] Solax If there is a lower than expected turnout, will you allow ex Tas, Gks, Gms, Msquads etc…?
[17:53] SlipAnc I was thinking of making a different tournament for them soon.
[17:54] SlipAnc Well right now I have no idea, I’ll probabaly let them play if this doesnt turn out right (I’m still hoping).
[17:56] Solax Are you hoping that this will reignite the spark within some the older, ex staff and maybe even see some returns?
[17:57] SlipAnc Well, that might just happen. Of course, it would be one of my base goals to get some of the olds/inactives back.
[17:58] SlipAnc But then again, it’s just simply fun to see them together.
[17:59] SlipAnc Whenever I get in game with any old staff, we’re like “ooh in the old times, hey how what that.. i rememeber you have…” etc, it’s just too cool.
[18:02] Solax Will common Toribash peasants be allowed to come and watch?
[18:02] SlipAnc That, again, depends on how many will be attending.
[18:04] SlipAnc Of course, I want some advertisment and I also would like others to get a glimpse into the old Toribash, since that’s how itwill be, but since the servers have a 30 person restriction, we might not be able to get everyone in.
[18:04] SlipAnc The server will be passworded, so they wont be able to play anyways.
So, keen to some Toribash history? Watch this event and see what happens!
Minibash
A new mini game has just been released by hampa. It is a mini version of Toribash that you can play in a browser! Named Minibash and for the right reasons, this game is a smaller version of Toribash. Like the vanilla Toribash you used to play on game sites, this game is only 2D with movement on only 2 axes.
The gist of the game is to beat challenges set down by the game or by other players. This gives you points. Points can be used for unlocking training to improve your characters strength and such in the mod section. There you can change your characters size for future fights. As always, user generated content is promoted. You can make challenges for others to try to beat! Just make the move and save it.
The game is easy enough, just move the grey parts (hands, feet, head and torso) to the desired locations and observe the ghost. If you are satisfied, click the icon down the lower left corner. If you have struck a pose and are waiting for the time to run out, you can speed things up by holding down the button. You get points for hitting your opponent and a decap is an auto win.
With your hard earned credits you can train up your strength, mass and reaction time. Strength? The harder you hit! Reaction time gives you smaller turnframes like Toribash and mass allows you to mod your character more. If the training is going too slow, pay gold to speed it up!
You can expect work to be done on this in the future so keep an eye out for this great new game and in the future hopefully we can see it on the iphone!
